Layout

This is the layout of my version of the NdSM. The name of the station is "Oppeneer". My intention was not to exactly copy the railway Alkmaar - Warmenhuizen - Schagen. I designed something with enough possibilities for shunting. On the other hand I preferred to have some similarities with the historical line. The railway layout looks like the one of "Schoorl", however I added an engine shed. Furthermore, my track has a dead end at the left side. In reality it went to the direction of Alkmaar.

About me

What can I tell about myself? Well, I am a pharmacist, working for a leading pharmaceutical company as Director for one of its Research and Development Departments. I am born in Gorinchem in the Netherlands in 1960. I live in Alkmaar since 1995. I am married and have a son and two daughters.

My most important hobby is model trains. My expertise is in scratch building of model scale houses and I am very experienced in modeling sceneries. My best achievement is the creation of a new model for Holland Scale in 2008, called Zandweg. In the same year, I started to use the Airbrush to refine my models. I started with weathering of my models. I see my ability to use the Airbrush as a major improvement of my skills. My favorite discussion forum is Beneluxspoor.net, where I submit my contributions under the pseudonym "Rocodil"

I started my weblog about three years ago. I try to add new contributions on a monthly basis. I publish them usually at the beginning of the calendar month. During holiday seasons the frequency may be lower. If you whish me to adress a specific subject, please let me know. I can try.

Noorder Stoomtram Maatschappij (NdSM)

Noorder Stoomtram Maatschappij translated into English is Northern Steam Tram Company. This is a picture of railway station De Loet size 1:87. De Loet is a small village where even most people in Holland have never heard of. I built the station from scratch using pieces of wood and plastic. The chimney for instance, is made of a cotton swab, the drainpipe of iron of firework sparklers. The building does still exist in the northwest part of the Netherlands near Schagen Google Maps. The railway itself has gone. 1947 was last year that the line was used.

Warmenhuizen

Warmenhuizen, had the same railway station as De Loet, but the buildings were each others mirror. This picture is made in 1914.
